Art Equals No Control.

“Art is an expression of the soul”

Meeka Speaks is officially back!

The classic management approach refers to an organized and structured system that are modeled after the efficiency of machines (Eisenberg, Goodall, & Trethewey pg. 65, 2014). The music industry is full of hierarchy from different  levels. From Investors, CEOs, Presidents and  the artists everyone has a voice in a overall overview .

These are work efforts, and gaining employee compliance” (Eisenberg, Goodall, & Tretheway, 2013, p. 76). I believe communication approaches try to stay relevant in most businesses. I would go as far to say in this business industry, it shouldn’t be relevant in. Its many different avenues the music industry employees has to develop before landing to a unanimous decision. I would compare it to a ladder.

In the communication world, Fayol’s classical management argues that “each employee should have only one boss and should be accountable to only one plan.” This management style has five elements: planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating, and controlling (Eisenberg et al., 2013, p. 72).

For example, I am binge watching a show called Star, the artist have limited control over their art. I believe once you are signed to a big label such as Sony or Universal Records. Your contracts has to be precise and negotiated throughly. For the same reasons these artist such as: Chance the Rapper, Frank Ocean, and The Weekend rather take the chance of artistic freedoms and not dealing with a label.

Pros: The money will always be supplied before an artist can hear a beat, have studio time or work with a producer.

Cons: There are many different directors, ceo, boards and investors artists have to speak to before being approved for an album, radio plays and more.
